Privacy Policy
SnapNote ("we", "our", or "the app") is a macOS application developed by [Your Company Name / Your Name] that allows users to extract text from screenshots using OCR (Optical Character Recognition). We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your data. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Data Collection
SnapNote does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or screen content to any servers.
-
When a user manually selects a portion of the screen, SnapNote captures that specific region as an image.
-
This image is processed entirely on the user's device using Apple’s Vision framework for OCR.
-
The captured image is not saved to disk or sent to any external service.
2. Use of Screen Capture
SnapNote uses Apple-approved screen capture APIs (ScreenCaptureKit, CGWindowListCreateImage) to enable the user to select a region of the screen. This does not constitute screen recording in a continuous or hidden way. The app:
-
Does not record video of the screen
-
Does not run in the background
-
Only captures the screen upon the user’s explicit action
3. Purpose of Screen Data
Captured screen data is used only for the purpose of extracting text (OCR). The extracted text is optionally:
-
Copied to the clipboard
-
Exported to PDF or Apple Notes (by user action)
-
Stored locally in the app’s history panel (on the user’s Mac only)
SnapNote does not send screen data to external servers or analytics services.
4. Third-Party Access
SnapNote shares no data with any third party. We do not use any third-party SDKs or trackers.
5. Local Storage
If the user enables the history panel, OCR results (text only, not images) may be saved locally on the device. These are not uploaded or synced to the cloud.
6. User Consent
By using SnapNote, users acknowledge and agree to the local processing of selected screen regions for the sole purpose of text extraction.
7. Your Rights
Since SnapNote does not collect personal data, there is no user data to access, delete, or request. However, if you have any concerns or questions, feel free to contact us.
